The academic requirements which are necessary to complete the graduate programs are expressed in credits. Each credit represents 15 hours of activities. The minimum compulsory for each program is described below:
For the Master’s Degree
96 credits, distributed as follows:
- 56 credits for the production of the dissertation;
- At least 40 credits, all of them in subjects or subjects and special credits;
Among the 40 subject credits, the student must course necessarily: 4 credits in a subject on Research Methodology; 4 credits in a subject on Statistics and 4 credits on Science Philosophy.
For the PhD - candidates who possess the Master’s Degree recognized by USP or with equivalency recognized by USP
160 credits, distributed as follows:
- 136 credits for the production of the thesis;
- 24 credits, all of them in subjects or subjects and special credits.

For the PhD - candidates who do not possess the Master’s Degree recognized by USP or with equivalency recognized by USP
192 credits, distributed as follows:
- 136 credits for the production of the thesis;
- 56 credits, all of them in subjects or subjects and special credits;
Among the 56 subject credits, the student must course necessarily: 4 credits in a subject on Research Methodology; 4 credits in a subject on Statistics and 4 credits on Science Philosophy.
