Procedures
Admission to the Doctoral Program in Physical Education is on a CONTINUOUS BASIS. Direct entry into the doctoral program (without a Master’s degree) is also permitted. Applicants should submit the following documentation via email (cpgeefe@usp.br) to the Graduate Program Office of the School of Physical Education and Sport - USP, at any time:
- Copy of undergraduate diploma and transcript (except for EEFE-USP master’s graduates);
- Copy of Master’s diploma (front and back) or Certificate of Completion and transcript (except for EEFE-USP master’s graduates and candidates for Direct Doctorate);
- Curriculum Vitae;
- One copy of the Research Project in one of the concentration areas, including at least the following sections:
1. Provisional title;
2. Introduction;
3. Objectives;
4. Literature review;
5. Method;
6. References.
Formatting: Times New Roman font, size 12 / 1.5 line spacing / 2.5 cm margins / maximum of 20 pages; - Copy of Identity Card and, for foreign applicants, a document proving legal residency in the country;
- A recent 3x4 photo;
- Application form (request the updated form to the email - cpgeefe@usp.br);
- Information questionnaire (request the updated form to the email - cpgeefe@usp.br);
- Proof of passing the English Proficiency Examination. Applicants holding passports from countries where English is the first language are exempt from the English proficiency requirement;
- Portuguese proficiency is not required for foreign students;
- Proof of payment of the application fee (click to generate the bank slip for the Doctorate and/or Direct Doctorate application);
- Detailed opinion from the prospective advisor regarding the candidate’s academic and professional experience, research project, and transcript;
- Only for the Doctorate with prior attainment of the Master’s degree: Acceptance or publication within the last five years, as the first author, of a bibliographic production indexed in SciELO, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, a book chapter, or a nationally or internationally distributed book related to the Master's thesis or the research project presented for doctoral admission;
- Only for the Direct Doctorate (without prior attainment of the Master’s degree): Presentation of an acceptance letter or publication within the last five years, as the first author, of two bibliographic productions indexed in SciELO, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, or a book chapter, or a nationally or internationally distributed book related to the research project presented for doctoral admission.
The documentation will be analyzed by the Graduate Commission during ordinary reunions. Further information may be obtained through email: cpgeefe@usp.br
English Proficiency
The English language proficiency exam may be taken at any institution and must be verified at the time of application. The accepted exams are listed below. The required scores for these proficiency exams will be published in the Official Notice.

- Internet-Based Test (IBT) - IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System)
- CAMBRIDGE: PET
- Duolingo English Test
- Proficiency Exam from the Language Center of FFLCH-USP
Master’s Degree Equivalency for Admission to the Doctoral Program
The request must be submitted to the Graduate Office and is valid exclusively within the scope of the University of São Paulo. Documents must be sent by email to cpgeefe@usp.br. Required documents:

Bachelor’s Degree diploma (front and back), translated and apostilled;

Master’s Degree diploma (front and back), translated and apostilled;

Undergraduate academic transcript, translated and apostilled;

Master’s academic transcript, translated and apostilled;

PDF copy of the Master’s thesis.
