Special Student

Special Students enroll to isolated subjects of the graduate USP courses, without being a regular student at the university. Application period for special students are opened every semester.

Procedures
 
  • Candidates must fill out the registration form as available in the documentation section below. Applications will be accepted for up to 03 courses, respecting the dates published in the academic calendar (in Portuguese).
  • Within 48 hours after the completion of the registration, the candidate will receive an email response from the postgraduate secretary informing if the documentation is in order.
  • Upon receiving the confirmation email from the secretary, the candidate will have up to 24 hours to generate the payment slip through the link provided in the "for all cases" section and make the registration payment. Immediately after the payment, the candidate should send the proof of payment of the registration to the email cpgeefe@usp.br, preferably as a reply to the confirmation email from the secretary.
  • Wait for the secretary's response regarding the enrollment confirmation in the course.

 

Note: The confirmation of receipt of the registration and payment of the fee do not guarantee that the student is already enrolled. Your request will be evaluated by the professor responsible for the course, and if approved, the enrollment will be confirmed. If the enrollment is not approved, the registration fees will not be refunded.
 
Documentation
 
Students who are not affiliated in a Graduate Program:
  • Approval certificate on the English proficiency exam;
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae;
  • Copy of the diploma and undergraduate or graduate transcript, as appropriate;
  • Copy of the ID and, if foreigner, permanency visa;
  • Fulfilled form (in Portuguese).
 
Regular students from other institutions:
  • Registration statement of the semester, emitted by the origin institution;
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae;
  • Copy of the diploma and undergraduate or graduate transcript, as appropriate;
  • Copy of the ID and, if foreigner, permanency visa;
  • Fulfilled form (in Portuguese).
 
USP undergraduate students:
  • Undergraduate Research Scholarship Certificate;
  • Approval certificate on the English proficiency exam;
  • Copy of the undergraduate transcript;
  • Fulfilled form (in Portuguese).
 
English Proficiency
 
The English proficiency exam may be taken in any institution and it must be certified when enrolling. Below we list the accepted exams and minimum grade required. All of them are valid for five years:
 
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
    Institutional Testing Program (ITP): 380 points
    Internet-Based Test (IBT): 25 points
  • IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System): 2,5 points
